API Endpoint for WhatsApp Message Status Retrieval

Dear MSG91 Team,

I would like to request a new feature that would significantly improve the reliability of our WhatsApp messaging system integration with your service.

Requested Feature: An API endpoint that allows retrieving the current status of a WhatsApp message by using its requestID.

Current Limitation: While webhooks are currently available for status updates, our system occasionally experiences webhook failures that result in lost status information. When this happens, there is no way to recover or check the status of those messages programmatically.

Use Case: When our webhook handler fails to capture and store a status update (due to server issues, network problems, etc.), we need a fallback mechanism to retrieve this information. This would allow our system to automatically retry status retrieval for messages with unknown states, ensuring data integrity and complete visibility into message delivery.

Proposed Implementation: A simple GET endpoint such as /api/whatsapp/status/{requestID} that returns the current status of a message (sent, delivered, read, failed) along with timestamps for each status change.

Business Value: This feature would:

1. Enhance reliability by providing a recovery mechanism for missed status updates

2. Improve customer experience by ensuring accurate reporting of message statuses

3. Reduce manual intervention currently needed to handle webhook failures

4. Allow for more robust automated retry mechanisms in our integration

I believe this feature would benefit many of your customers who rely on accurate delivery status tracking for their WhatsApp communications.
